We run them in conjunction with the outreach section of the University of Aberdeen, and our 2016 / 2017 series of Tarland Talks ranged far and wide : from an in-depth look at the problems faced by bees, through the “Internet of Things” to whether or not fitness trackers should be provided on the NHS.
Our talks are open to anyone who would like to attend and the speakers aim to make them accessible to all, whether or not you have any background in science. We follow the relaxed Café Scientifique format : Introduction, talk (up to 45 mins), short break, Q&A session. If you have been to a “drop-in” Café Scientifique format before, the main difference is that our talks are longer and we allow speakers to use visual aids.
Our programme for next winter will be announced here later in the year.
Older children are welcome to come with you and we leave you to judge when they are ready to do so. £4 entry to talks for adults, but age under 18 get in free.
