Digital Art and Music

Love the arts – music and creative visual design? Think this Club is just for techies? That could not be further from the truth.

In many artistic projects, you will be interfacing with techies, and understanding and learning the discipline to do so, opens up extra opportunities for you as an artist. Most artists working alongside the entertainments or gaming industries or in advertising, also need to learn to produce their work in the right digital format.

So can you design a cartoon character? – a twenty second theme tune? Make electronic backdrops or real sets? Come up with different looks and stories for different levels of game? Make credits or backdrops for a YouTube video?

We have invested in graphic design tablets and digital software for you to learn the skills which will put you in pole position to get a creative job in the fast expanding digital industries.

Local artist Cerne Deverell is our volunteer tutor and he will help you develop your artistic skills using a simple free software program that mimics many of the features of professional software.

Leanne Daphne Goodall is the 2021 winner of the prestigious Kelpies Prize for Illustration. She works with us to help more experienced artists develop and transfer their skills onto professional level software. We are constrained as to how many artists at a time can be trained this way, as the software licences are extremely expensive, but it will allow you to gain some experience in the range and capabilities available in professional software.

Member Tutor Thorfinn Sigursson won an award for the soundtrack which accompanied Jacob’s animation. He will introduce you to FL Studio software for the development of digital sound.
